St. Pat’s starts early, ends late at Wilmington pub

St. Patrick’s Day celebrations began early at the Harp, Wilmington’s newest Irish pub on South 3rd Street.

They started St. Patrick’s Day with a traditional Irish feast at 8 a.m. The festivities will last throughout the day and into the night with food specials, pints of Guinness and Patrick McDonough, a very Irish DJ.

“It’s a lovely day,” McDonough said. “It’s a day I feel great. It’s a great day for the Irish. We’re gonna do four hours non-stop Irish music. The best music this side of Ireland. Happy St. Patrick’s Day. Have a great day and a good pint.”

Young and old were out enjoying St. Patrick’s Day, decked out in everything from green wigs to shamrock head bands.

Employees of the Harp expect the party to get crowded around 6 p.m. and last until 2 a.m.
