‘Stand at Attention’ event to support veterans with PTSD

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — At Independence Mall in Wilmington, a special competition was held to help raise money for and spread awareness about veterans with PTSD.

Members from all 5 branches of the military stood at attention at the center of the mall, and folks could donate money. Funds raised will go to the Active Heroes charity. Local high school ROTC groups even came out to support their troops by performing push-ups for every dollar collected.

Organizers said that about 22 military personnel commit suicide every day, and the Active Heroes organization works hard to provide our veterans with help when they need it most.
