Willie Stargell Foundation presents grant to New Hanover Regional Medical Center

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Willie Stargell Foundation presented a grant to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center to support dialysis care to help battle kidney disease.

The presentation took place in the Willie “Pops” Stargell dialysis unit.

Margaret Weller-Stargell, president of the Willie Stargell Foundation, presented the $50,000 grant to the hospital.

James McCabe says he is grateful for this grant and will offer more opportunities to help others.

“We’ve now got the best of the best for our patients and for our patients now to be able to break down barriers to get kidney transplants, to get help with their medications, when other resources are all drying up, it allows me to give hope to my patients. And as long as you can give hope to them, I think I’m doing my job,” McCabe said.

The grant will fund equipment, nutritional programs and education for nephrology nurses.
