StarNews finalizes move to downtown Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (StarNews) — After a 35-year absence, the StarNews has officially moved its offices back into the heart of downtown Wilmington, where it began operations more than 150 years ago.
The paper finalized a multi-year lease this week with The Harrelson Building, LLC for the fourth floor of the Harrelson Building at the corner of Third and Chestnut streets. Since October, StarNews staff have been operating out of the building’s first and second floors after Hurricane Florence damaged the paper’s South 17th Street offices.
The return to downtown represents a major step for the publication, North Carolina’s longest continuously published newspaper — the first edition of which was printed from its Water Street offices on Sept. 23, 1867. The paper operated out of the Murchison Building from 1935 to 1970 when it moved to 17th Street.
