State of the City address Monday night at City Hall
Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo will give his annual State of the City address Monday.
In his past State of the City addresses, Saffo has touched on the city’s sewer system, the city’s traffic problems and the convention center project.
Mayor Saffo said, “The convention center has kind of been a blessing in disguise, a silver lining in a dark cloud. It’s a 62 million dollar economic stimulus that the city is putting together, not being paid for by the city tax payers, but by room occupancy tax.”
The Mayor has indicated the project is creating desperately needed jobs, but will elaborate more during his address.
The address generally focuses on the city’s successes and challenges that lie ahead.
The 20 to 25-minute speech starts at 5:30 Monday night in the City Council chambers at City Hall on North Third Street in downtown Wilmington.
The public is invited to attend.
