State house says ‘No’ to forced annexation

The State House has said ‘no’ to forced annexation.

This comes as welcome news to residents in Monkey Junction who are fighting Wilmington’s attempts to annex them.

Under the measure passed yesterday, towns and cities couldn’t forcibly annex unincorporated land for nine months

The measure takes effect July 31st.

The moratorium still needs Senate approval.
