State senator visits port

WILMINGTON — One of the state senators who voted to give $7.5 million of your taxes dollars to our ports last year paid a visit today.

Sen. Walter Dalton is running for lieutenant governor and visited the port of Wilmington to check out the four new cranes the state money helped purchase. He says our ports are essential for the state’s economic well-being.

Sen. Dalton said, “I’m very impressed. I’m very glad that we made that investment. This year we put another $7.5 million into the ports authority for additional revenues for them to do some good things out here to help us compete in the international economy.”

Sen. Dalton says he hopes more businesses will continue to come our way as the state continues to expand resources at the port.
