State’s flood plain mapping project to get financial boost
The state’s flood plain mapping project will soon get a financial boost from Washington.
Sen. Elizabeth Dole announced today that four-million dollars from FEMA will go to the state’s floodplain mapping project.
The money will help update flood maps in the state to better identify which areas are at risk.
The task of creating the maps began after Hurricane Floyd in 1999. They are expected to be complete by 2009.
