Still hope for annexation moratorium bill

There may still be hope for a moratorium on forced annexation.

The bill is currently stalled in a state senate committee.

Rules committee chair Tony Rand said the bill will die because it must be the result of a joint study by the house and the senate, which it is not.

But, Senator Julia Boseman tells NewsChannel Three if two-thirds of Senators agree, Senate rules let the bill out of committee and into the full house for debate.

Currently supporters are trying to find the needed 34 votes to do it.

If passed, the moratorium would stop town and cities from forcibly annexing land for nine months.
