Storm system miles away puts NC officials on alert
WILMINGTON (AP) — A storm system forming hundreds of miles south of the Carolinas is drawing some attention.
Residents, government officials and businesses fear the coming weekend could be a wet and windy one.
The National Weather Service says a low pressure system between Bermuda and the Bahamas is expected to strengthen and could become a tropical storm over the weekend.
Forecasters issued small craft advisories today for the Outer Banks of North Carolina going south to the Jacksonville area.
Rip current warnings have been issued for the coastline further south and into South Carolina.
