STORMTRACK 3: New Hanover and Brunswick Counties opening emergency shelters
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – Both New Hanover County and Brunswick County are opening emergency shelters for people who need a place to stay due to flooding.
In New Hanover County, the shelter will be at Eaton Elementary School which is at 6701 Gordon Road. It will open at 5:30 p.m.
In Brunswick County, two shelters will open at 4:00 p.m. at North Brunswick High School and at West Brunswick High School.

WILMINGTON NC, September 29, 2010 – As torrential rain and flooding threaten the Cape Fear region, the American Red Cross is preparing to open the following emergency shelters on Wednesday, September 29, in collaboration with local emergency management offices and the Department of Social Services for people affected by the flooding.
BRUNSWICK COUNTY – All shelters open at 4pm – please bring necessary personal items.
North Brunswick High School – 1395 Scorpion Drive, Leland, NC 28451
West Brunswick High School – 550 Whiteville Road, Shallotte, NC 28470
NEW HANOVER COUNTY – Shelter opens at 5:30pm – Dinner will not be served. Please bring necessary personal items, including snacks for family members. Eaton Elementary School, 6701 Gordon Road, Wilmington, NC 28411
Personal items to bring with you to the shelter should include any medicines needed by members of the family, feeding formulas and diapers for infants, a pillow and blanket for each member of the family, a change of clothing, snacks, and books and simple toys for your children. Public health requirements do not permit us to accept pets in these shelters. Please contact your local animal control department for more information about obtaining shelter for your pet.
