Street Fair and Avett Brothers kick off weekend Azalea festivities
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Azalea Festival is in full swing now, and Friday night’s festivities certainly didn’t disappoint. The long awaited blue grass band The Avett Brothers, performed at Trask Coliseum and the Azalea Festival Street Fair began in downtown Wilmington.
More than 40 food vendors were available to choose from. Staple fair eats, like funnel cake, corn dogs, pizza and even a few unusual treats, such as five pound gummy bears were sold.
For the shoppers, there was nearly 200 arts and crafts vendors. The free event also gave visitors the chance to win prizes.
“I won this Spiderman and this trumpet,” says six year old Drake Chase. “I’m having fun listening to the music.”
The street fair will continue into the weekend. Hours on Saturday are from 9AM to 11PM and Sunday from 10AM to 6PM.
