Student leads food drive for Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard

A New Hanover High School student used his senior project to do some good on Saturday.

Matthew Farr decided he would do a research project on the economy and it’s effects on charity programs.

Saturday, he held a food drive at Lowes foods on North College Road to benefit Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, a non-profit company that gives food to the needy.

Thrifty Car Rental donated a van for the day to help him make his delivery.

Farr said his interest in charities is what led to his project. “I’ve been wanting to learn about charities for a couple of months now and how I can help them. So I went to Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard and asked.”

Farr’s goal was to collect 100 or more non-perishable items for the Wilmington charity.
