Students discover learning about pi can be fun

Today, the Cape Fear Museum honored the famous number pi.

Not pie that you eat, but the pi you learned about in math class; you know, the ratio of the circumference to the diameter of a circle which is about equal to 3.14.

Hundreds of New Hanover County elementary students celebrated the math formula for finding the circumference and diameter of a circle with fun and games. The event included hands-on activities to help kids appreciate math.

“Pi is about circles and the circumference is the outside of the circle,” said Ellie Landis, a third grade student at Winter Park Elementary.

Pi day is officially tomorrow for March 14th. “We are learning about math and different things, and we are learning about Pi Day which I get it now is on March 14th ( 3/14) and that equals pi,” explained Cameron Howard, a Gregory Elementary fifth grader.

So today, it was pi minus .01.
