Students think pink for cancer awareness

BRUNSWICK COUNTY — Pink is the color in Brunswick County. That’s where a group of students is wearing the color to raise awareness about cancer.

Students at West Brunswick High School are showing their support all week for their Think Pink campaign.

More than 800 schools nationwide are participating in the campaign to sell pink T-shirts to raise money for cancer research.

West Brunswick Athletic Director Marcia Heddy said, “Everybody is wearing pink around here, pink ribbons, everybody is wearing pink this week.”

West Brunswick teacher Gloria Childress said, “It has a special place in my heart because I was diagnosed in August of 03 I’ve been battling breast cancer ever since then, so it’s great to see the whole student body to come together for a good cause.”

At the end of the week a group of cancer survivors will be honored during the school’s half-time basketball game.
