Study gives New Hanover “C” for government workforce growth
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A study of county government workforce growth compared the private sector over the last decade gives New Hanover County a “C.” The study by the Civitas Institute shows 73 of North Carolina’s 100 counties grew their workforce at a faster pace than their respective private sector employment between 2000 and 2009.
Analysts say New Hanover got a “C” because it fell into the group of counties that added workers but did it at a pace reflective of the county’s population growth.
