Study: women make businesses more profitable

If you want to make your business more profitable improve gender balance in the board room. That’s according to the findings of a recent study by the consulting group McKinsey and Company.

The group studied Europe’s top companies and found the ones with more women managers outperformed their rivals across the board.

“Why Women Mean Business” co-author Alison Maitland said, “You get more sparky ideas, you get more diversity of thought, lots and lots of different perspectives, different experience, perhaps more innovation, generally more openness, more challenging — all those things that work better when actually when you see a group of men and women working together.”

A previous study showed when one woman joins a board room she is treated as an honorary male, but when you have three women in the board room researchers say the entire dynamic changes.
