Sunday Concert on the Coast in Holden Beach
It is officially summer. That means it is peak season for the Sunday night Concert on the Coast series in Holden Beach. WWAY’s John Rendleman weathered the heat, to see who was shagging underneath the Holden Beach Bridge.
Prior to Sunday’s concert, Dance Link USA provided free shagging lessons to anyone willing to shake a leg.
Sunday’s concert in Holden Beach featured Goldrush. They primarily play beach music. They call Lumberton home, but they seemed right “at home” at the new pavilion in Holden Beach “We’ve been playing a lot of years, almost 30 years now,” said Goldrush leader guitarist and vocalist Jerry Shooter. “Beach music and other types of music. We’ve got a lot of songs coming out and we’re working on an album. We just came off a song that went # 1 for us for six weeks down at the surf.”
Folks in Holden Beach seemed to like the Goldrush original songs, but there’s nothing like golden oldie Carolina Girls, which got everybody off their feet.
The summer concert series in Holden Beach runs through early September. This Sunday, the Harbour Towne Festival Band performs, followed by El Combo Grande on July 5th.
