Sunset Beach woman charged in deadly motorcycle crash

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A woman is facing DWI and felony death by motor vehicle charges after a deadly motorcycle crash in Brunswick County Sunday afternoon.

Sgt. M.W. King with the NC Highway Patrol says it happened around 4:00 p.m. at Stanbury Road and Old Ferry Connection SW, which is in the Supply area.

Sgt. King says Lori Saubers, 53, of Sunset Beach, was driving a Mercedes SUV when she failed to yield at a stop sign and pulled out in front of a Harley Davidson motorcycle being ridden by Joseph Pallassino, 61, of Charlotte.

Pallassino died at the hospital.

Sgt. King says Saubers was charged with DWI and after consulting with the District Attorney’s Office, was also charged with felony death by motor vehicle.

Several emergency crews responded, including Coastline Volunteer Rescue Squad.
