Sunset Park residents angry at port

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Residents of Sunset park were upset and speaking out at Tuesday night’s City Counil meeting about the port.

They have concerns about a wood pellet storage facility the port plans to install, so they went in front of City Council to share their concerns.

They worry about the flammability of the pellets and just the fact that the domes will be so large.

“It’s a great big thing right in our backyard,” said Johnnie Henagan. “It’s an eyesore.”

Neighbors said they would like the domes scrapped or moved. Some acknowledged though that it was unlikely to happen.
