Supporters of UNCW track meet with administration

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Supporters of saving UNCW’s track and field program had a meeting with the university’s administration today.

The idea is to make university higher-ups aware of the amount of fund-raising they’ve been able to do since December.

They’ve raised more than $140-thousand in one-time funds and $20-thousand in year-after-year pledges.

That’s what would be needed to keep track and field alive but after today’s meeting the chancellor says not much has changed.

“I don’t think much has changed frankly, but I do think the board members wanted to listen and the folks that were here made a good spirited defense of their position,” said Interim Chancellor Bill Sederberg

Parents of students and supporters say no matter what the outcome is they will continue fighting to save UNCW’s track program.
