Surf City police arrest one after vehicle break-ins, car theft

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — The Surf City Police Department is asking neighbors and visitors to be mindful after a series of vehicles break-ins happened over the weekend.
Police tell us that on Saturday night numerous vehicle break-ins happened on the south end of the island.
They say all victims left their vehicles unlocked. In addition, police say one vehicle was stolen along with two guns.
Police ask that you take your keys and any weapons you may have inside the vehicle and secure them inside your house when not in use.
At this time, police have one suspect in custody, but a second person is at large. Again, please secure your vehicles at night.
