Surf City Police participating in ‘No Shave November’ for good cause

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — Some Surf City Police officers are rocking the “No Shave November” look for a good cause.

Chief Ron Shanahan  said staff members are participating in”No Shave November” to raise money for Guardian Ad Litem Volunteer Association.

Shanahan said staff members that want to participate were asked to make a $1.00 per day donation for 30 days.

All proceeds will be going to the GALVA. The organization is comprised of volunteers that advocate for abused, neglected and dependent children in the Department of Social Services court system. Funds raised will provide training for those volunteers to effectively advocate for these children. Although some of the children’s needs are met through government entities, GALVA raises money to help provide additional items that may not be available to the children, i.e. clothing, educational opportunities, summer camps, eyeglasses, etc., so they could have a sense of normalcy.

If anyone would like to make a donation, they can stop by the Surf City Police Department during business hours.
