Surf City working to repair beach access ramps after storm erosion
SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — After high tide and erosion made it difficult to use, one of the beach access wheelchair ramps in Surf City has a new addition.
Town Manager Larry Bergman said crews just added an entire new piece to the end of the ramp at Charlotte Avenue. He said high tides washed out the sand and left it as a drop off.
Bergman said the town is also looking at estimates for a major re-build or possible relocation of the 9th Street ramp. He said it was damaged in Hurricane Matthew and then again with another high tide storm.
