Surfer competes again for first time since shark attack

TAHITI (CNN) — Australian surfer Mick Fanning will begin competing again this weekend in Tahiti.

It will be his first competition since he made headlines last month when he fought off a shark on live television during a competition in South Africa.

While waiting to catch a wave in the last heat, a shark started attacking him. Fanning punched at the shark and got away.

Fanning said in an interview that he is exited to get back on the horse, giving him something to focus on.
