Surfers converge on Wrightsville Beach for 12th annual Sweetwater Pro-Am

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Wrightsville Beach is packed with surfers looking to hang ten this weekend at the 12th annual Sweetwater Pro-Am.

Surfers from all over the country and even some internationals from Ecuador and Barbados converged here for the contest.

This is one of the largest professional surfing competitions held every year on the East Coast.

The pros are competing for their share of a $15,000 purse, while the highest placing amateurs will be awarded a new surfboard.

All of the prizes will be handed out on Sunday at the conclusion of the contest.
