Surveys highlight School Board issues in Superintendent search
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick County School Board members are reacting to recent surveys submitted for the Superintendent search.
Staff and community members turned in almost 500 surveys ranking strengths and weaknesses in the school system and what they want in the Superintendent. One trend in the comments? Some say School Board members have personal agendas and have created a mess.
But, Chair Catherine Cooke disagrees..
” I don’t think anyone has a personal agenda. I think we all want to work together. The next qualification we will look for is somebody that can work with the board,” she said. “Of course you never know. It’s like somebody said when you get married you think you’re marrying somebody and then you get there and you’re like uhh it’s not exactly what I thought, but you still try to work through the differences. We want what’s best for the school system.”
The next step for board members is going over applications and resumes. Cooke said they plan to have a new Superintendent by July 1.
