Suspect arrested in Columbus shots fired incident

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man in connection with a shots fired call near Whiteville earlier this week.

21-year-old Harvey Elliott Harris is accused of firing several shots into a home in the 200 block of Quail Dr. on Monday.

According to the report, Logan Blake Prince called the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office just after 9pm on Monday and told them someone was causing damage to his property by driving around in his yard.

Prince told deputies he threw a bottle at the vehicle. The person in the vehicle, deputies now identify as Harvey Harris, fired several shots at the residence before taking off.

Shortly after that, another vehicle drove by the residence, firing multiple times.

Harris was arrested Thursday evening. He is being held at the Columbus County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond.
