Suspect charged after man stabbed in the head

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police said a man is facing assault charges after a fight turned into a stabbing.

Police said it happened last night after 11 p.m. in the 1800 block of S. 17th Street. Police said Joseph Mark MacCarter, 38, got in a fight with a 32-year-old man in a homeless camp in the area. Investigators said the fight turned physical, with the victim stabbed several times, at least one time in the head. Police said they do not think the injuries are life threatening.

MacCarter is facing assault with a deadly weapon charges. He’s being held under a $250,000 bond.
