Woman pleads guilty in fatal hit-and-run

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A woman involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash last September has plead guilty.

25-year-old Brook Leigh Honeycutt was involved in a hit and run collision on September, 29, where she collided with 30-year-old Justin Allen Corbett. The collision happened in the 5200 block of Market Street. Corbett was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

Honeycutt was charged with felony hit and run resulting in death and DWI. She was sentenced to 6 months active jail time, with the remainder being spent on probation. She has already served 120 days in jail for the DWI charge.
