Swimming advisory in Fort Fisher today

State environmental officials issued a swimming advisory in Fort Fisher today.

The water next to the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission’s boat ramp indicated bacteria levels above state and federal regulations. Visitors were not very upset because they prefer other areas for swimming.

The North Carolina Division of Environmental Health said the bacteria likely came from high tide that had washed bird waste off the near by jetty.

Officials were out to test levels again today. There will be more results posted soon.
