Tax preparers busy as deadline looms

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Just one day before the deadline, it’s hard to think of anyone busier today than tax professionals. Businesses and accountants are running on overdrive trying to help last-minute customers.

Long lines and 24-hour service can be found at places like Liberty Tax offices across Wilmington. For smaller personal accountants, they’re just as busy even if they don’t have the long lines.

“You basically realize between January and tomorrow, it’s a pretty crazy time, longer days,” accountant Adam Shay said.

Remember, the deadline to file is midnight tomorrow night. If you need to file an extension, you still have to pay any taxes you owe.
