Tax-Free Weekend is here

Shoppers will fill the aisles of stores across North Carolina this weekend to take advantage of the sales tax holiday weekend. It means good deals for shoppers and good business for stores. Target manager Chris Hall said, “This weekend will be a phenomenal weekend for us. It will be one of the busiest leading up to the day after Thanksgiving.”

“It’s great, especially since the state sales tax is about to go up, so try to take advantage of it,” said shopper Robin Burriss.

Others got their shopping in before the deals start. “I don’t mind paying the tax today because I just have one child and I don’t find that the savings is really worth fighting the crowds for,” said Angela Rigsbee.

The state sales tax is 6.75% and will go up one percent September 1st, so many are looking forward to this weekend. “It really does help families out, times are tough,” added Hall.
