Tea Party Summit comes to Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Tea Party political movement is in the Port City this weekend. Organizers say the conservative group is hosting a summit so that people can get their political voices heard in our state.

The Tea Party Summit is a three-day seminar with classes, activist training, education on policy and politics. It’s also a chance for North Carolinians to express and share their concerns about the government.

Attendees say they’re learning how to effectively voice their opinion.

“I think a lot of people are frustrated, because they feel like things are going in the wrong direction,” Phil Triece said. “They want to do something but they don’t know the avenues to make a difference.”

The summit runs through Sunday at the Hilton Riverside downtown.
