Teacher of the Week: Destiney Watt

SHALLOTTE, NC (WWAY) — Destiney Watt is a very popular teacher at Shallotte Middle School and is inspiring her students to love science with a blend of humor and enthusiasm.

“I want them to have fun,” she says, “and I also want them to have a good understanding of the lesson.  It’s the only way I teach!”

Her students say call her funny, but they also say she is inspiring.  More than one say Ms. Watt makes them want to be a teacher when they grow up.

In her classroom of seventh graders, Ms. Watt says she feels “it is the age I was meant to teach and the age I think I can make the most impact.”

As she looks to the future for her students she says “I just mostly want them to be happy and have a great life!”
