Teacher of the Week: Sarah Pearce

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Sarah Pearce has an artist's heart and an educator's mind and she puts both to use at Coddington Elementary School as an English Language Arts Teacher.

This week's Teacher of the Week was nominated because she loves her students and helps them learn to love reading.

She says she works with them to discover their interests and chooses books that keep them engaged so they develop a lifelong love of the written word.

After considering a life as an artist, Ms. Pearce decided to honor the teachers that helped her by going into education.

She had difficulty as a student growing up and thanks the teachers who took the time to work with her.

Ms. Pearce goes by the motto 'Leave no student behind' and takes time to attend their sporting and civic events as well to make sure they understand that she is always there to help.
