Team of the Week: Whiteville Wolfpack

WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — The first part of the season was a season to forget for Whiteville.
They lost to North Brunswick in their opener. In week two they fell short against East Bladen, but the Wolfpack players turned everything around. They demolished West Bladen in week three. The Pack beat West Brunswick next. Then they defeated another West squad This time West Columbus. In fact the win over West Columbus may have been Whiteville’s best game of the season. “We’ve been under the radar all year long. We like that actually,” senior Garrett Wilson told WWAY. “We get to outwork people and we just get to prove everybody wrong.”

Whiteville beat a tough Fairmont team early this month for their 4th win in a row. Last week Whiteville beat previously undefeated Red Springs 26-21 for their 5th victory in a row. “Every week we get better. We’re the Whiteville Wolfpack.” senior Nate Powell told us. “We’re going to play fast, play physical. We’ll play disciplined and we’ll outwork anybody in our conference.”

Luke Little is the Whiteville head coach. His squad is now 3-0 in the Three Rivers Conference. They’re alone, in first place. “In the last two years I thought we were pretty much as good as we were going to get at this point.” Little told WWAY. “This year’s group I have told people all along that overall talent-wise I think we have more talent on this team, it’s just younger talent.” In fact Whiteville is one of the youngest teams in the Cape Fear region, and with that let’s give it up for this week’s WWAY – Logo Shoppe Team of the week. The Whiteville Wolfpack.
