Teen charged with murder found guilty of involuntary manslaughter

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (StarNews/WWAY) — The jury in the trial of Tyler Yee returned a verdict of involuntary manslaughter, according to our partners at the StarNews.

Yee was initially charged with first degree murder for the death of Raymond Kain, but by the time his case went to court he was on trial for second degree murder.

Kain’s body was found March 9 of last year in the 100 block of Sebrell Avenue.

Yee was accused of shooting Kain in the forehead and leaving the scene.

Superior Court Judge Ebern Watson then sentenced Yee, 18, to between 16 and 29 months in a North Carolina prison, the StarNews reports. At the conclusion of that sentence, Yee, who was also found guilty of a misdemeanor possession of a firearm by a minor charge, will have one year of supervised probation — which he will serve a 45-day sentence if he violates.
