Teen dies in accidental shooting

THE FOLLOWING IS A NEWS RELEASE FROM THE BRUNSWICK COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT:

Brunswick County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an incident in the wooded area near Inman Road in Ash this afternoon.

On February 22nd at approximately 3:47 pm, Deputies responded to the wooded area to find victim, David Purifoy, 14/W/M, of 5896 Kingtown Road, wounded from a single gunshot.

Purifoy was transported to Brunswick Community Hospital in Supply and pronounced deceased upon arrival. Brunswick County Sheriff’s Detectives are assisting North Carolina Wildlife in this incident and it appears to be accidental in nature at this time.
