Teen dies in crash involving U-Haul truck on MLK Jr. Parkway

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A teen died after driving into the back of a U-Haul truck in Wilmington Thursday evening, according to police.

The Wilmington Police Department says the fatal crash happened around 5:30 p.m. in the 4800 Block of Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway.

A 2014 Mazda 6, driven by 18-year-old Jakob Brian McLaughlin, was traveling east on MLK when it collided into the back of a slowing U-Haul truck, police say.

McLaughlin died at the scene.

The driver of the U-Haul truck suffered minor injuries.
