Teen indicted in Ben Privott murder

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The 15-year-old Wilmington male charged with murder was indicted on charges by a grand jury.

Ben Privott was stabbed to death while taking his dog out late one night in his Wilmington neighborhood in April. A teen, Cory Sullivan, was later charged with first degree murder. The teen’s identity was made public when his case was moved to superior court.

According to court documents, Sullivan was indicted Monday on charges including first degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon. Documents said Sullivan stole a computer and/or money from Privott and stabbed him with a 3 1/2 knife.

Privott was found by his fiance’ in a nearby yard after the stabbing. He was a well-known musician and real estate agent in Wilmington
