Teen killed in car crash honored with celebration of life ceremony
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The South Brunswick High School community came together to remember and celebrate the life of senior Lily Beatini Friday night.
Family, friends, teachers and coaches came together to grieve for the loss of 18-year-old South Brunswick High School student.
Beatini died in a car crash near campus Wednesday morning.
Those who knew the teen shed tears, shared some laughs and memories, and spoke words of encouragement to each other.
Her friends said Beatini was positive, caring and smart.
“Being a teammate and a classmate of hers was an amazing honor for everything single one of us,” said student Lillian Beecroft. “And she was just somebody we all want to look up.”
Beatini was in the National Honor Society. And she was on the cheer, softball and lacrosse teams. Her lacrosse teammates said they are pulling together for support during this time, something they said Beatini would have wanted.
“We’re lucky to get to play with such an amazing girl. She always found a way to make everyone smile and she always helps keep us all together,” said teammate Hannah Scharf. “and when in games we felt we couldn’t do it anymore, she always pulled us back in.”
Ally Bowersox, Beatini’s best friend, said she is grateful she was able to become so close to her.
“She always told me there’s a reason you’re my best friend because our moms couldn’t handle us as sisters,” said Bowersox. “She always had something nice to say and I’m very glad that I got to meet her and got to know her.”
