Teen pregnancies reach record low

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Teen pregnancies in the US are at a record low. That’s according to new statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

In 2009, around 410,000 teenage girls gave birth. That’s a 37 percent decrease from the teen birth rate nearly twenty years earlier.

But according to the United Nations, the rate of teen pregnancy here in the US is still nearly nine times higher than in the majority of other developed nations.
