Teen suspects tied to armed robberies where victims were hit in head
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – The Wilmington Police Department believes two armed robberies that happened minutes apart are linked to the same group of teenage suspects.
Police say they received the first call around 7:00 p.m.
Officers arrived at the 1100 block of Carnation Court and found the victim, who said he noticed noticed four young men walking toward him. Three were wearing dark hoodies, one was wearing a brighter color hoodie. The victim told police the group asked him for cash. He told them he didn’t have any and kept walking. The victim said one then ran up behind him and struck him in the head. The group walked away when the victim yelled for help.
Police say it appears a few minutes later, the group hit again.
Around 7:23 p.m. police responded to Zinnia Court in reference to another armed robbery.
The victim in that case told police he was walking home on Greenfield Street when four teens approached him. He told police it appeared two of the teens had guns. One of the teens told the victim to give them his money. When the victim implied he didn’t have any, he was hit in the head with a gun. Police say one of the suspects then took the victim’s wedding ring and watch. The group then walked off on Greenfield Street.
The group is described as being black males between the ages of 19-20. They were wearing dark black jackets and hoods. They are between 5’6″ and 5’8″ tall.
