Teen dies after being hit by van, truck

WILMINGTON — A Wilmington teenager is dead after being hit by a van and a truck last night near Monkey Junction.

The Highway Patrol says 16-year-old Laura Contreras Bautista was walking across Carolina Beach Road around 9:20 p.m. when it happened.

Troopers say the drivers are not being cited because Bautista walked out in front of oncoming traffic.
