Teens run into burning home to save disabled neighbor

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) — Two teenage boys ran into a burning home in Fayetteville on Wednesday to save their disabled neighbor, authorities said.

The scene unfolded just before 6 p.m. in the 5100 block of Birch Road.

Firefighters said the homeowner’s sister thought there was an electrical issue in the house so she went to go get a neighbor’s help. When she returned, she said smoke was billowing from the back side of the house.

The 18-year-old neighbors, Christian Elliot and Joshua Daniel, ran inside to help the disabled man get out of the burning house safely, officials said.

An electrical short in a wall outlet was blamed for the fire.
