Teens in custody for hospital beating

LORIS, SC (WWAY) — A 15-year-old charged with beating an elderly woman outside a South Carolina hospital will stay in custody.

As we first reported last week, 73-year-old Rose Powell was beaten Wednesday night as she walked to her car outside Loris Community Hospital, just across the state line from Tabor City.

Loris police have also charged 17-year-old Travis Jones in connection with the crime. Jones and the juvenile, whose name has not been released, are both charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and strong armed robbery.
