Elf Patrol gets ceremony started at Wrightsville Beach
WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Christmas Tree is now lit in Wrightsville Beach and hundreds showed up for the ceremony, including Santa’s little helpers!
The annual event at Wrightsville Beach Town Hall took place Friday, November 25th, with the Elf Patrol reading the Code of Elves at 5:30.
“Number 1, treat everyday like Christmas,” the lead Elf said. “Number 2, there’s room for everyone on the nice list. And number 3, the way to bring Christmas cheer is to sing loud for everyone to hear,” he said.
The Elf Patrol, with the help of LJ Woodard and support of Wrightsville Beach Parks and Recreation, then performed several traditional Christmas songs like Jingle Bells.
At 5:45pm, the crowd counted down to light the tree.
When what to our wondering eyes should appear,
but blue lights flashing with police cars as reindeer.
With the door now open, the crowd gathered quick,
look who it was! Mrs. Claus and St. Nick!
Santa then made his way to a long line of kids waiting to tell him how good they were this year and what they’d like to see under the tree.
“What would you like Santa to bring you this year?” “Pokemon, money, and a robot,” said Landon McClung.
“What is your favorite part of the holidays?” “That it’s Jesus’s birthday and that we get presents,” said Will Hamilton.
Cocoa and holiday music was also a part of the annual event.
