Salvation Army of Wilmington saying good-bye to leaders
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — After taking over as leader of the Salvation Army in Wilmington seven years ago, Maj. Richard Watts and his wife, Maj. Ginny Watts, are retiring.
In an email, Maj. Richard Watts said he is “glad and saddened” that they will retire from active service July 1, with their final day in Wilmington June 18.
The couple has a combined 98 years and 5 months of service as active officers.
“Wilmington has been one of the bright spots of our career as we’ve seen our community grow during these past seven years. We regret not being able to complete the building project but like any runner, there comes a time when you hand the baton over to the next man to carry it a bit further,” Richard Watts wrote.
Watts says that Majors Mark and LeighAnn Craddock will take over as the new Corps Officers for Wilmington.
The Craddocks currently serve on Divisional Headquarters in Baltimore.
