The South Columbus connection from Saturday’s NC State-UNC football game
CHAPEL HILL, NC (WWAY) — Two South Columbus graduates played a hand in the outcome of Saturday’s NC State-UNC football game.
Senior Ethan Farmer had a team high 9 tackles on Saturday for the North Carolina Tar Heels. Farmer even had a sack. That’s impressive, but former South Columbus Stallion Pharoah McKever also had a memorable day on the gridiron. McKever had a season high 4 solo tackles. He forced a fumble on a play and the tall defensive end recorded the first sack of his collegiate career.
“We knew coming into the game that they would run their quarterback because they really rely on their quarterback,” McKever told WWAY on Saturday. “We just had to disrupt them. We did it against Wake Forest for the seniors and we had that mentality to come in here today for the seniors and everyone in the Wolfpack nation. We got it done today. Players always dream about their first sack, it felt really good.”
